to fetishists (to hunters)

to the man

who knows he is an

asian fetishist but

knows less that

he is a hunter:

when you tell

me that asian

women are

your "thing"

i don’t get upset,

even when you

tell me the

unsolicited details of

your harajuku- sailor-moon-costumed

geisha-trained

hello kitty-sweet

always-had-that-yellow-fever

fantasy

because i'm too

busy imagining

you on top of me

the way hunters

pose on bengal

tiger rugs,

like you think

i am nothing

more than a

trophy of skin,

my mouth

an open invitation

for the jawbreaker in you

to pry apart and cut

into an enduring smile,

the emptied

remains of a

beast waiting to

be filled, with glass

eyes fixated on you

unblinking

while your

amateur taxidermist

hands push elbow deep

inside, removing all the stuff men

like you throw into the garbage

the guts and the brain and the heart

trying sloppily to replace it with

something meant to

keep me immobile

and quiet, a split bellied

souvenir your wipe your

muddy feet on when you

have returned from another

gruesome hunt.

so to you, hunter,

to you, fetishist,

you empty man with

greedy hands,

when you tell me

that asian women

are your “thing”

i don’t get upset. i don’t get

anything.

because you are right:

i am nothing

for you.

i am no fever for you

to break, no cartoon fantasy

come to life, no game

big or small

for you to hunt

and i am no

empty beast

waiting to serve the pretty

purpose of lying down with

a forced smile

in your bed

or underfoot.

i am no

thing.
